Why a safety vest?
An economical way to easily increase your visibility is to wear a safety vest. If it is important that you are clearly visible, but you do not immediately need the total protection of high-visibility clothing, vests or safety vests are a particularly affordable alternative that meets all your visibility needs.
What types of safety vests are there?
There are different types of safety vests and safety vests available in the market. This ranges from simple basic vests with minimal striping and no high-visibility colors to safety vests for roadside use or for environments with flame-retardant materials. Depending on the function and location where the vest is worn, there are various choices.
Basic safety vests and vests for schools and events
The most basic safety vests are often in one color without too much striping. There are variants with high visibility to stand out a little more, but also variants that are mainly intended for schools and events. Consider, for example, red vests or white vests with a logo of the event or school, or in some cases with texts such as BHV, First Aid or Crewmember. This increases the recognizability of the wearer, often without unnecessary functions. These are often cheaper vests for events and children's vests for schools.
High visibility safety vests and national water management vests
If you work on the roadside in the Netherlands you either need high-visibility clothing or in many cases you can wear a safety vest. Most safety vests in high-visibility yellow, orange and red comply with the EN 20471 standard for high visibility, whereby the higher the class, the more visible. If you work on the roadside for Rijkswaterstaat in the Netherlands, there is an additional requirement for your clothing or safety vest, which must meet the Rijkswaterstaat stripes or abbreviated RWS stripes. We also offer these Rijkswaterstaat vests.
Traffic controller vests
In the Netherlands there are strict rules regarding traffic controllers, traffic controller clothing and traffic controller vests. The traffic controller clothing and vests must be in 2 colors yellow and orange, with specific stripes on the front and back. There are also special rules for applying logos to these vests.
Executive vests with zipper and pockets
For many activities and situations it is useful to have sufficient pockets, often when a vest is worn you cannot easily reach jacket pockets. They have so-called executive safety vests, which are equipped with various pockets and a zipper. While you often see combination sizes such as M/L with other vests, with executive you often have the sizes separately.
