The aim is to attenuate the sound between 70dB(A) and 80dB(A), the maximum attenuation of hearing protection is 39dB(A)
SNR value of safety ear muffs
Simply put, SNR is the attenuation value of the hearing protection, it stands for Single Number Rating. The higher the SNR value, the higher the damping. The SNR value indicates how many dB the hearing protection removes from the ambient noise. If you want to know what the minimum SNR value of your hearing protection should be, subtract 80 dB from the volume at the workplace. For example, if the measured volume at your workplace is 100 dB, you will need earplugs or an ear muff with an SNR value of 20 dB or more to be able to work without the risk of hearing damage.
