Which Herock work boot suits your work?
Icarus: waterproof leather and a warm lining
The Herock Icarus 23MSS2302 combines full-grain leather with a HYDROSHIELD membrane. This is a waterproof layer inside the boot. The polyester fur lining adds warmth, while the composite safety toecap and metal-free puncture-resistant layer protect your toes and the soles of your feet. This model has safety class S7S.
Trenos: lined boot with water-repellent leather
The Herock Trenos 22MSS2403 also has a polyester fur lining, a composite safety toecap and a metal-free puncture-resistant layer. The leather upper is water-repellent. The Trenos is classed as S3S and has a PU/PU outsole: two layers of polyurethane. For work that requires full waterproofing, the Icarus offers a different construction with its membrane.
PVC S5: waterproof knee-high boot
The Herock PVC S5 SRC 21MBT2302 is a waterproof PVC knee-high boot with a steel safety toecap and steel midsole. The tall, smooth shaft is practical for wet and dirty work and is easy to rinse clean. Its construction differs clearly from the leather Icarus and Trenos with their warm fur linings.
Waterproof, water-repellent and cold-insulating
Water-repellent leather slows down moisture penetration, but does not automatically make the whole boot waterproof. In the Icarus, the HYDROSHIELD membrane provides the waterproof construction; the PVC S5 is waterproof as a plastic boot. The opening at the top also matters: the material cannot stop water that runs in over the top of the shaft.
Both Icarus and Trenos have the additional CI marking for cold insulation. This is a tested property, not a fixed outdoor temperature at which everyone will keep their feet warm. The lining, your socks, movement and the time you spend outdoors all contribute to comfort.
Safety class and fit
The letters and numbers on a work boot describe different protective properties. S7S, S3S and S5 relate to different materials and protective designs. A higher number is not a general ranking of the best boot. You can find more information in the standards for work shoes and work boots.
In the current range, Icarus and Trenos come in sizes 37 to 47 inclusive; PVC S5 comes in sizes 38 to 48 inclusive. With your work socks on, your toes should have room without your foot sliding around inside the boot. A thick sock needs more space. Size options and current delivery information are listed on the product page.
Work boots or garden boots?
The Herock garden boots and garden shoes form a separate group. The Farmer is an occupational boot with an OB marking; the Galosche is a low-cut garden shoe. For work that requires a safety toecap, the safety boots on this page are the appropriate category.
