Security & Surveillance work clothing
Security officers and guards are supervisors who monitor compliance with laws and regulations on behalf of a private or government client. Security is the set of measures to protect a target to be secured against harmful influences. Monitoring is part of security. It means keeping a constant eye on a person or object that can be monitored in its entirety.

A security officer or security guard must radiate authority, reliability and recognizability. Professional protective clothing must therefore also meet these requirements. There are several forms of security and surveillance. Each shape often has a different appearance. Sometimes a three-piece suit with a neat shirt and tie or hyrax with smart work trousers, work jacket and neat safety shoes is necessary. But if it can be less formal, a combination of a t-shirt or polo shirt with cool Tricorp jeans and a sweater or sweater in the company's corporate identity is also good. To maintain the right appearance security clothing must also be colourfast, strong and durable. In this webshop you will find an extensive range of sustainable work clothing with which you can be guaranteed to dress your security guards professionally and representatively.
Recognizability of security guards through printed or embroidered work clothing
Security guards must be recognizable as a security guard and in any case as an employee of your company by adding a logo, company name and possibly a special security emblem on the work clothing. At Unishore Workwear it is possible to have your company logo, company name and security emblem printed or embroidered on the ordered work clothing when ordering. We do this printing and personalization in-house and we also have our own embroidery studio. More information about embroidering work clothing and printing work clothing.
Embroider or print security emblems on company clothing
As mentioned earlier, it is possible to have a special security emblem embroidered or printed on the work clothing. This may involve the well-known security 'V' or simply the word 'security' or sometimes nothing at all. Which emblem you are allowed to use and whether you are allowed to use one depends on the degree of certification of your security guards. The legal rules for this are described in the Private Security Organizations Act (WPBOR). Particularly at large events, compliance with these WPBOR rules is regularly checked. For example, incorrectly wearing the security 'V' means that the security guard in question must immediately stop his or her work and that the employer may pay a fine of several thousand euros. The security company is then in violation of Article 7 and may lose its permit.
European standards for protective clothing
In principle there are no European Standards for protective clothing unless the working environment requires it. Possible environmental hazards include:
- Extreme heat and static electricity: The standards EN 1149, EN 11612, EN 11611, EN ISO 14116 and/or IEC61482 apply to work clothing.
- Poor lighting: In poorly lit areas, security guards and guards will have to wear work clothing with increased visibility that is certified according to EN 20471 or RWS (Rijkswaterstaat). Wearing a safety vest over your own protective clothing is often sufficient, but sometimes more is needed, such as a jacket with reflective elements or stripes or even HI-Vis work trousers.
- EN343 standard for rainwear: For security guards who work outside a lot, wind and rain-resistant work clothing is not an unnecessary luxury. An EN 343 designation and the umbrella icon show that a garment is resistant to precipitation.
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for security officers and guards
Depending on the working environment your security officers and guards will sometimes also have to wear Personal Protective Equipment. PPE includes work gloves, head protection, hearing protection and eye and face protection. For guards and security officers this will mainly concern head protection such as a helmet or a cap and hearing protection such as earplugs.
Good safety shoes or walking shoes for security officers and guards
Security officers and guards often have to stand and walk a lot. This is of course a lot easier with good shoes. When purchasing these safety shoes, pay attention to the possible dangers to the toes and soles of the feet and whether the safety shoes provide sufficient grip and shock absorption. Sometimes protected safety shoes are required, which are at least standardized according to European standard EN ISO 20345 S1P, but sometimes good walking shoes are also very suitable work shoes for security officers and guards.
