Frequently Asked Questions
Is Sioen workwear produced sustainably?
Yes, Sioen is strongly committed to sustainability through environmentally friendly production processes, recycling of materials and long-lasting quality of clothing. They make conscious choices in raw materials, limit waste flows and invest in energy-efficient production techniques. Social sustainability is also taken into account within their supply chain. Certifications such as OEKO-TEX® support their sustainable ambitions. This makes Sioen a progressive brand in responsible workwear.
For which sectors is Sioen workwear suitable?
Sioen workwear is widely worn in sectors such as construction, petrochemical, transport, utilities, defence and fire brigade. They also offer specialist clothing for high-risk workplaces, such as offshore and energy production. Thanks to their wide range of rainwear, multi-norm and flame retardant clothing, there is a suitable solution for almost every working environment. The clothing is designed with comfort, protection and durability in mind. This makes the brand versatile.
What is multi-norm workwear?
Multinorm work clothing meets multiple safety standards at the same time, for example for flame retardancy, antistatic effect, chemical protection and visibility. This clothing is intended for working environments with different risks. It therefore combines multiple protective properties in one garment. This means that an employee does not have to change clothing per situation. Multinorm clothing can be recognised by multiple pictograms and certifications in the label.
What does the EN 343 rain standard entail?
EN 343 is the European standard for protection against precipitation, such as rain, snow and fog. The standard rates waterproofness (X) and breathability (Y), each with a number between 1 and 4, where 4 is the highest level. Clothing that complies with EN 343 effectively protects you against wet conditions. This standard is important for outdoor specialists who work in the rain for long periods of time. The taped seams and waterproof zippers also play a role in the standardization.
What does a water column of 3000 mm mean?
A water column of 3000 mm indicates how much water pressure a fabric can withstand before it leaks through. This means that the material can withstand a pressure of 3000 mm of standing water without leaking through. The higher the number, the better the waterproofness. A water column of 3000 mm or more is suitable for normal rain showers, but a higher value is recommended for prolonged or heavy rainfall. Workwear or rainwear with this value therefore offers reasonable protection in wet conditions.
