UV-Block and CoolDry are properties of workwear that ensure breathability and protection from the sun. Thanks to special technological materials, workwear becomes more comfortable and offers protection. Read more about the importance of these two materials in this article.
SUN PROTECTION
When you work outside a lot it is important to work clothes to wear that protects you from the sun. Unlike standard work clothing, UV-protective work clothing is equipped with a UV-resistant system. UV-resistant work clothing, like sunscreens, is available in different factors. The lowest factor (low protection) is 2, which allows 50% of UV to pass through and therefore blocks 50% of UV radiation. The highest factor (excellent protection) is 50+, which blocks more than 98% of UV radiation and therefore only allows less than 2% of UV radiation to pass through. With a factor of 50+, the transmission of UV radiation is so low that it has no adverse effects on the skin. So if you work outdoors a lot, it is recommended to wear clothing with high UV protection to protect yourself from harmful radiation.
Sun-protective work clothing therefore contains SPF (sun protection factor). This factor protects your skin against the adverse effects of solar radiation. Every time your skin comes into contact with the sun without protection, you run the risk of getting sunburned and this increases the risk of skin cancer. Employees who often work in the sun, such as gardeners, must therefore optimally protect themselves against the sun to minimize the risk of skin cancer. Applying sunscreen to your skin and wearing normal work clothing is not enough. If the work clothing is not sun-protective, UV radiation can still reach your skin. This also applies on cloudy days.
BREATHABILITY
If you often work in the sun you will also sweat more often. In this case it is nice to have a T-shirt or polo to wear that wicks moisture well. For even more comfort, it is recommended to wear breathable work clothing. The breathability of work clothing is like a physical process. Warm air or moisture (such as sweat) naturally moves towards air with lower temperatures. The temperature control that breathable work clothing contains ensures the breathability.
PROPERTIES COOLDRY AND UV BLOCK
UV Block
The fibres from which the work clothing is made determine firstly whether the garment is breathable and whether it allows UV radiation to pass through. Fibres such as (bleached) cotton and viscose are extremely transparent to UV radiation. Polyester is a fabric that has a low permeability and therefore has a sun-resistant effect. But fibres are not the only ones that provide UV protection. A special weaving technique and added artificial UV absorbers make the clothing UV-resistant. After washing, the UV resistance increases even more. Because the 'holes' between the fibres become smaller, even less UV radiation can penetrate. TheUV Block work clothing from Tricorp is all 50+ SPF and therefore provides excellent protection.
CoolDry
To make the workwear breathable, a specially designed polyester fiber is used. In addition to UV protection, this fiber also provides extreme breathability. This breathable fiber is often used in sportswear to absorb sweat and wick away moisture. It is for precisely these reasons that this fiber is also used to make workwear. In addition, CoolDry workwear is hygienic, quick-drying and helps to keep the body temperature constant.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does UV protective clothing lose its effectiveness over time?
Yes, UV protective clothing can lose some of its protective effect over time, especially through frequent washing, wear and exposure to sunlight. The fibres can become thinner or damaged, which means that less UV radiation is blocked. To maintain effectiveness, it is important to follow the washing instructions and replace the clothing in time. Some manufacturers indicate how many washes the protection remains effective. Always check whether the clothing still meets the UPF standard.
Can I wear Cooldry clothing all year round?
Cooldry clothing is designed to wick moisture away from the skin and dry quickly, which is especially nice in warm weather or intensive work. However, you can also wear it in the winter, for example as a breathable base layer under insulating clothing. It helps regulate body temperature and prevents you from getting too wet or clammy from sweat. In colder conditions, it is advisable to wear extra layers on top. This keeps your body warm and dry.
Who is Cooldry and UV protective work clothing suitable for?
Cooldry and UV workwear are particularly suitable for people who work outdoors for long periods of time or in warm, sunny conditions. Think of construction workers, gardeners, road workers and logistics personnel. These garments also offer protection and comfort for professions in the agricultural sector or shipping. UV workwear helps to block harmful solar radiation, while Cooldry material keeps the body cool and dry. Together they ensure optimal working conditions in hot weather or long-term exposure to the sun.
Can CoolDry and UV work clothing be printed with a logo?
Yes, CoolDry and UV workwear can be printed with a company logo, provided this is done correctly. Because this clothing often consists of synthetic fibers, it is important to use a suitable printing technique, such as transfer printing or embroidery with heat-resistant materials. The printing must not disrupt the breathable or UV-protective effect. Therefore, always choose a specialist who has experience with printing technical workwear. This way, the functionality is retained and it looks representative.
What is the difference between CoolDry and cotton?
CoolDry is a synthetic material specially developed to quickly wick away moisture and keep the body dry and cool, while cotton is a natural fiber that retains moisture. Cotton feels soft, but dries slowly and can become heavy when you perspire. CoolDry, on the other hand, is lightweight, breathable and quick-drying, which is ideal for hot or strenuous work. CoolDry also retains its shape better and shrinks less when washed. For physical work or high temperatures, CoolDry therefore offers more comfort and functionality than cotton.
